The great thing about hoppes is that I still have a bottle that my dad had from high school and I went and bought another bottle a few months ago and the only difference in the bottle was that the old bottle was glass and the new one was plastic. It has literally been the same for over 30 years. Everyone I know around here uses it and it works pretty well but be warned if you clean your guns inside open some major windows. You think Bleach smells bad, this stuff will put you on your butt quick, its strong lol

I always clean my firearms the day after a range or hunting session because nine times out of ten I'm with friends who make it SOP to grab something to eat & drink then talk about the days experience...and that's all good !!

I also really like the Hoppes. Its readily available and I kinda like the smell! :D

Just used CLP on my 1911. Holy Smokes that thing was DIRTY!!! Everything was covered with powder residue to the point it looked like the parkerizing was on the internals too! I sprayed it pretty heavily in bursts and as it began to run off the pistol it ran black. Sprayed some more and let it sit a couple hours after working the slide quite a few times. Finished up with the Hoppes and oil.

Depends on the firearm. I clean my carry gun every time I shoot it, but that is because the old adage about dirty underwear and being in an accident.

I once ran an AR over 2000 rds with Wolf to see how bad it was, it was dirty but still functioning when I started to feel guilty for only giving it a bit of CLP.

Now surplus guns that I shoot corrosive ammo through, they get cleaned at the end of the session, and everyday for a week after that (wipe down/inspection).

On hunting rifles, very rarely clean the bore.....just hate to loose the accuracy when cleaned.

This is me and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn last night

I clean my guns after every range session. I also enjoy cleaning them.
I often re-clean one even it it hasn't been used in a while.

Every one seems to clean their guns differently.
I start with a brass brush dipped in Hoppes #9 then follow that with patches until the bore is clean. Lightly oil inside and outside with a patch.

I have the Winchester gun cleaning kit from Wal-Mart which didn't come with instructions. Lol!

What are the bore mops used for? I've never used them. :?:

Oh! My gun gleaning kit don't come with any 16 ga. implements.

I tend to clean mine after each use. I am the type that enjoys it as well. I am wired to enjoy playing with machines, so it is just another way to play with my toys. ;)

We've been hunting every weekend for the last, what? 3 or 4 weeks, + some range time inbetween shooting clays... We've been through grass at least 4' tall and in some cases taller. We've been through swampy marshes, shin deep water, rain and mud. Our guns hang on our sides.

We have yet to clean them. Guess that should be on the list eventually... maybe more range time first though, i need more shells for Oli!

I clean my gun after every range session period. If I know I am not going to be able to clean it right away I wont even shoot.

Depends upon the gun and how it was used but I clean them SOME after every use.

Scrubbing out the Bore with a brass brush isn't needed with most guns unless you are shooting Lead.
Glocks don't like to be soaked in Oil/CLP etc...actually more likely to screw it up than to help.
With my Glocks I clean out carbon with Q Tips and alcohol.
I clean out the chamber with a little Hoppes usually.
I lightly clean the rails with Hoppes on a Q Tip
Run a patch through it with just a little CLP

With 1911's I clean out the rails more diligently than with the Glocks.
I usually use CLP.

My Mossberg is new to me so I'm still experimenting.
As of now I wipe the inside action parts with CLP and grease the action arms and the Mag Tube under the forend with Slide Glide.
I clean the chamber out and run a Bore Snake through the barrel.

I wipe the externals of all my Guns with Tuff Glide
