Howdy from the Ozarks!

Born and bred Ozark Hillbilly, farm raised. US Navy Vet and a Battleship sailor to boot. Plankowner of the Best Ship in the Navy in the 80's, the USS New Jersey BB62.

I've had several Mossy's over the years and for one reason or another let them get away. But now I have 2 that I don't think will ever be let go. I have a 930 Auto that is a pure pleasure to shoot Skeet and Trap with. And just bought a 500 to frighten the crap out of Turkey's with.

I've neer really been a big fan of the tactical shotguns, but seeing all these sweet lookin' 500-590's I may just have to go looking for another one.

Anyway, glad to be here, y'all gotta nice place.

O7 You are very much welcome, sir. And I'd be happy to do it again, but at 53, they might not think I could. ;)

Welcome aboard and thank you for serving Sir!

We've got a great group of folks here on Mossberg Owners and the atmosphere is very laid back. The only thing we like better than discussing each other's guns is lookin at 'em, so we're lookin forward to pics of your 930 and new 500. Take a look around and feel free to post up pics of any other firearms you own in the various sub-forums. You'll find that we're into a lot more than just Mossberg around here. Jump in on the conversation anywhere and let us know if you have any questions.

Enjoy the site!

Thanks everyone. The 930 is still in factory trim. The 500 is still in the build process getting ready for Turkey Season in April, but when she's done I'll post pics.

I used to shoot on the Ships Rifle/Pistol team and fell into the 1911 addiction. One day about 2 years ago, a buddy brought his Glock to the range. I had always "poopooed" the plastic fakes, all the way up to the time I tried it. Bad move. Now the 1911 is gone and I now have a Glock 17 9mm.

I'm sooooo weak. o_O

I still love the 1911 and have had a Springer and now a Kimber. I've fired Glocks of a few varieties and have never held them in contempt for any reason, but they generally don't fit my hands. The single stack compacts do and I may one day like to have one. Despite not fitting my hands well, they are very good shooting guns out of the box. Even if I do have to reposition my grip after every shot, I can still hit the target and group very well with a gun I don't practice with.

I've been known to show up at Berryville Arkansas and shoot Steel Challenge with the boys from Wilsons on occasion. I had to add a grip sleeve on my G17, I have meaty hands, but I actually dropped some off my times. I think the grip angle just fit my shooting style better than the 1911's. Weird.

Welcome to the Mossberg Owners Forum !!

Thank you for your service to our great country...

Yes indeed, thank you, and BTW, that Jersey looks like a very nice ship.

What's the compliment on a vessel like her?

Hello from Washington, BadK. Welcome to the group, and like the others before me, I thank you for your service.

So you served aboard The Black Dragon! A great ship. My Navy days stretched from '68 to '73 -- after boot camp and fleet training, I spent 49 months aboard the USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5), 7th Fleet flagship. I loved that ship.

Again, welcome aboard, sir!

CaddmannQ--We had 1500 on her, but during WW2 she was manned by over 2000.

OffGrid9--What was your rate? My brother was an HT on the OKC during that time. Chuck Nagel--sadly, we lost him in '95. He's the reason I enlisted in the Navy. We never refered to the Jersey as "The Black Dragon", I have no idea where that got started. She was always called the Big J. We always seem to become attached to our "boats". I loved that ship, she was a real Lady.

My dad was on the cruiser Columbus for her first trip thru Panama in spring 1945. He was on the Henderson in fall of 45 (hospital ship) all the way back, after he was wounded aboard the Columbus.

Rode the Big J through the Ditch twice. Almost had to grease the hull to get her through. The cool part was the Pibber escorts through the jungle parts. Those boats are SWEET!!!!!!
