I hear ya. I know I would've funked up the cut too. And really, for me, the small change makes all the difference, especially if the material is not grabby. I couldn't find a metal plate and that plastic one was real easy to contour. If it's not short enough for you it may be possible to trade stocks with someone unhappy with their youth model.
