Newfound Mossie obsession

dorangolv

.270 WIN
Hello from sunny Las Vegas Nevada.
Just bought a Mossberg 590 (50645). Been spending several sleepless nights surfing the web for bolt on tactical accessories for my new obsession.
Haven't even fired the thing yet.
Is this normal Doctor?
Is there a prescription to help me get through the day without thinking about my new shotgun?
My wife thinks I'm having an affair and watching porn all night.
I'm just researching Tri-rail forends, 6-position adjustable stocks, Red-Dot sights, Green lasers, Red lasers, and remote operated lights with a minimum of 500 Lumens I SWEAR!!! :geek:
Look honey, I can show you the computers History with date and time stamps!

Welcome aboard from PA! You have come to the right place. Yes it's normal. Some range time and time on MO will help. I'd read up on old posts and start any new ones on the changes that you want to make

welcome to the club from NY and congrats on the new mossy. ,,,,,,,,new mossy,,,,,no sleep,,,,,,all normal,,,,,,you've got the bug. :)
like Mike said,,,,,few boxes of shells down range you 'll be fine.
get a chance post a pic or two. :D

Thanks guys!
Both me and a co-worker were in the market for a new 590 at the same time. One day I was with my son and told him to stop at Big 5 because I wanted to see if they had any .45 ACP or .357 ammo. Told him to stay in the car, I'd only be a minute.
40 minutes later he comes into the store and I'm signing paperwork for the new toy. All I wanted was ammo. But when I saw the sale price and couldn't pass it up. $400!! No $25 for background check because I have a CCW.
I immediately sent a text to my co-worker and he went to his neighborhood Big 5 and bought one too!

Nice story and I would have jumped on it too for $400.

Welcome aboard!

Sad to say there's no cure for what you've got, but you've found a great support group with a bunch of us that suffer from the same affliction. We've got a great group of folks here on Mossberg Owners and the atmosphere is very laid back. The only thing we like better than discussing each other's guns is lookin at 'em, so we're looking forward to pics of your new 590. Take a look around and feel free to post up pics of any other firearms you own in the various sub-forums. You'll find that we're into a lot more than just Mossberg around here. Jump in on the conversation anywhere and let us know if you have any questions.

Enjoy the site!

From the Last Frontier!

Definitely no cure here my friend....but I can tell you, this will be the best outlet for your new obsession!

Hello everyone
I'm new to this sort of thing. Not just Mossberg ownership, but message boards.
I'm reluctant to say who I am on this post. I just joined mossbergowners.com Saturday June 8th. I posted a couple of times then tried to log on 2 days later and was met with a message;
"Permanently banned from this sight... spam."
Tried to contact someone but got no reply. I haven't the foggiest notion as to what I said that caused me to get banned.

Here is some of what I posted under my previous user name of dorangolv:

I was really starting to get the hang of this website and I told my co-worker about it, too. But then I got blasted. I don't know why. I might get blasted again for coming back and posting on this thread.
I really like it here and don't intend to step on toes and make an idiot of myself.
I'm new and I have a lot to learn. I am very conservative in many ways and don't take big risks and that includes any discourse on the internet. But I'm afraid I did or said something to send the wrong message before. I still don't know what because I never got a reply. If there is a moderator reading this, maybe you could shoot me an email or private message of some kind and tell me what was objectionable so I don't do it again.
Thank's everyone.
Hope to be here for many years to come posting pictures and asking for advise.

Since I've got your attention, I bought 7 items from Amazon that have yet to arrive in the mail.
For the forend; a Tri-rail forend from ERGO. I also bought the Magpul AFG2 and ERGO Surestop Tactical Rail Hand Stop and a dozen rubber caps to cover the exposed rails.
For lighting; I bought the UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED Flashlight with Red Laser p/n LT-ZLP38.
For the receiver; I bought the Mesa 90340 SureShell Carrier for Mossberg with 8 shell capacity. Retails for $90, I paid $72 with FREE shipping WOOT!
For the safety; Elite Tactical Advantage 100-005-838 Mossberg Tactical Safety button. (shaped like a big fly or moth)
Unfortunately...
From eBay I bought UTG Red/green dot scope kit that came with the rail to mount on top of the receiver.
Bit of a SNAFU on that one.
Rail was fine, bolted right on no problems.
I took the laser scope out of the package, installed the battery and mounted it to the top of the 590. But I noticed the windage adjustment slot had been damaged from a screwdriver. The item was advertised as new. Sure enough, the dot location could not be adjusted. I tried for about half hour to forty-five minutes and the dot would not budge. It just sits there in the lower left corner.
The vendor is AWOL. Blames me, says they will offer a refund after I pay shipping to get it back to them. :x
I contacted UTG/Leapers customer service with a detailed email and detailed pictures. Within 10 hours they called and said they want to look at it and replace it if it is defective. Waiting game for that one. :?

Welcome aboard.......again.

Sorry about the ban issue. We had a mass spam attack a last weekend by a few dozen new users with several hundred spam posts that took about eight hours to clean up. Looks like your first username might have been mistakenly banned during the insanity that ensued. Your being banned was certainly not intentional. Sorry for the oversight and we are glad to see you back. I have reinstated your original username if you would like to continue using that one.

Keep us posted on all your upgrades and good luck with UTG. I've had good experience with them in the past and hope they take good care of you.

The folks at UTG have been stellar. Very helpful and courteous. Asking diagnostic questions without making it sound like "our devise is fine, you're an idiot" type of thing like I got from the eZapper people through eBay.
UTG said it has a 2 yr warranty. From what I told him, he said it sounds like somebody turned the dial too far and the dot got stuck there. They will repair or replace it for free. Mailing it back to UTG tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I've gotten 3 messages from the eZapper people on eBay first telling me to send it back telling them whether I want a refund or replacement. The next message says, "No replacement. Refund only."
Too, late pal.
I got this.

The spam issue was horrible...hundreds of posts in the middle of the night. Thanks for giving us a second chance!

You really are jumping in there with your new obsession. I hope after using you 590 and the additions that you post up thoughts on them.

Thanks and looking forward to more posts!

Howdy. Sorry about the misunderstanding. :? I am truly sorry. Anyhow. Like sniper said your first username was mistakenly banned during the insanity. If you could let DHonovich know which one you would like to continue to use, that'd be great.

again...I am sorry.
