Decisions on a HD shotgun

About as true as JSM, wanted you to see this and make sure you know that there is a difference in #4 shot and #4 Buckshot. Hate to see you get #4 bird hunting shells

Most likely the Wal-Mart ammo is just #4 shot. While certainly possible, I have never seen #4 Buckshot in a Wal-Mart. Of course, some Wal-Marts sell reloading supplies but I've never seen that with my own eyes.

Is this it? Someone in the review section said it wasn't.

CLP is manufactured by a number of companies including Breakfree, RoyCo and others. All the same stuff as long as the label references MIL-PRF-63460D, Amd. 6 or subsequent. I think the latest revision is MIL-PRF-63460E.

Cleaning last night and my CLP says Safariland….never noticed all the different “brands” before

Nick Burkhardt can probably add some to this thread. He's recently been hit from all sides with opinions on home defense. ;) Take care. Tom Worthington

Breakfree was the first company to meet the spec, back in the '70s, when it was originally PD-48. Should be noted that the chemistry can be slightly different between manufacturer's so long as it performs per the current spec - which states the minimum performance required for military purchase. Which is why you see different opinions on which brand might be marginally better than others.

Thanks for the info and pictures, I was going to watch a video explaining different ammo but I couldn't find it again when I tried to. I think my walmart has buckshot 4 because she asked which one I was looking for but that doesn't mean they do have it. I could order 25 remington 4 buckshot online and delivered for about 17 bucks but if my walmart has the same thing than there wouldn't be much point in waiting.

Interesting video, I wish he used 2 3/4 buck instead of 3 since there will be a little bit of a difference and I think this was at 15 yards away, I don't think I'll be more than 7 yards away in a house.

Honestly I'm looking and I cant find a cheaper reliable set up than remington, 25 round box for 15 bucks. Even Federal PD156 4B I can only find as a 5 round box and after you buy 5 boxes that is 20 bucks.

Is this what I'm looking for? I'm starting to get so confused that I'm getting frustrated and getting a headache. I'm given one product number here, and there it doesn't exist at all. I look this number up at remington or go to federal and get the number and search else where and they tell me that it doesn't exist.

No, my friend. I'm afraid it is not. That is #4 shot, which in oli700s excellent photo illustration is not buckshot.

Remington Catalog # for 5-ct boxes of #4 Buckshot is 12B4

Remington Catalog # for 25-ct boxes of 00 Buckshot is 12B00A

RIO is good ammo, usually readily available and inexpensive. http://www.rioammo.com/Gbuckshot.html . If you don't have a dealer in your area I think they will ship it to your door if you email or call them. I have about 100 rounds left out of the 200 I bought a couple years ago, but every gunstore in 50 miles of here carries it, so I've never had to call them.

Thanks for the links, that's where I was confused, I knew it was #4 but didn't know what kind of #4, figured it was buck because that is what I wanted and that came up. 4.99 for a box of 5 is cheap. So I guess that means though the only #4 my walmart had was the bird #4 from remington.

I was watching this video when I decided to check the forum.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiLEjucLT6Q

another video Rio vs Rem

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KaBmzx92gM

Now with that video comparing Rio VS Rem would it be safe to say if I were to get Rio that I'd better get a bigger shot than the #4? Although I need to go back I figure out how far he was away from the target.

Yea but the shipping is 16.52. O_O

I think Bud's is the cheapest if their shipping of Flat $9 is true. 6.52 for a box of 10 SB V211832U with 9 shipping is 15.52.

Rio RB1221 5 round
4.31 x2 = 8.64
Shipping 7.00
total 15.64

Remington 12BK4
4.62 x2 9.24
shipping 9
18.24

Since this is all with shipping, how much can you guys get these at your local store? Is the pricing with shipping close to the same thing or is shipping screwing me over?

#4 buck at sportsman's guide has free shipping right now with this code sh1417 at checkout trying to help save you $$$ brother!

I'll look again but I think they are mostly sold out of everything.

Winchester or Remington? Wincheser 3.98 Remington 4.46
Winchester WX2-95683 - Winchester® Super - X® Buckshot 12 - gauge XB124 2 3/4" 4 Buck 27 Pellets 5 rounds

Remington WX2-1587 - Remington® 12 gauge, 2 3/4", No. 4 Buckshot, 3 3/4 dram equiv., 27 pellets, 5 rounds

or should I just get 2 of each? and an extra of one? I heard remington isn't good for storage because it leaks or something?

"I guess getting 25 rounds is good enough about all I can afford anyways."

Gonna say winchester super x inliked the 00 I shot! I agree one of each and a fiocci low recoil 00 buck just for S&G's. The fiocci pattern was nice at 20-25 feet gonna buy more when funds allow.

Well I do plan on going #4 since 00 is too much force. I guess buying a pair of both wont be bad. Anyone else want to chime in before I purchase?
