Wholesalers ALREADY running out of ARs?!

I think it was John A that posted recently to the effect that people should have learned their lesson before. I have a coworker that left the day before San Bernadino for 5 days in the mountains with his dad. He had planned to order an AR from FN that sells for $1450 when he returned. By the time he came home the price was up to $1750 and his FFL had trouble even finding one. Fortunately this was another rifle, not a "had to have" so he is going to wait until we get back to normal.

The white house isn't happy about this either:
President Obama’s spokesman said Thursday that the record number of Americans seeking to buy guns in recent weeks is “a tragedy” that the White House is at a loss to explain.
“The more that we see this kind of violence on our streets, the more people go out and buy guns,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. “That is both ironic and tragic.”
The FBI conducted 185,345 firearms background checks on Black Friday, the most ever during a single day. The record number of gun sales came two weeks after the Islamic State’s terrorist attacks in Paris, but before the terrorist massacre in San Bernardino, California.
Asked why he thinks so many Americans are buying guns, Mr. Earnest replied, “I don’t know, I really don’t.”
“In some cases these are individuals who believe that they need to buy a gun so that they can better protect themselves,” he said. “In some cases because it’s Black Friday, they probably are going and purchasing a gift for a friend or a loved one who is a gun enthusiast. I’m just pointing out that there are already an astonishing number of guns on the streets of America and far too many innocent Americans who are being killed by them.”

I can explain it. Yet another shooting showed that the government can't protect us all from evil people. Then, the president gives a speech to tell us we are scared, tell us his ISIS strategy is working and lecture us on being nice to muslims. All the while that's going on we are reading editorials where the left has finally dropped the curtain and admitted they want civilian disarmament. That's why people are buying.

Gun salesman of the year, 7 years running!!

People are panicking, no real new information has come out and he can only do so much via executive order. He tried before and it fell way short. I think Congress is becoming more fatigued by him so I am curious to see where it all goes.

There's another explanation that is probably running neck & neck with yours. Some people see "American Revolution II" on the horizon and have decided they're not going to sit on the sidelines and watch the Socialists, er Democrats, take over and abolish the constitution.

I agree. If I had taken the "civilian disarmament" farther it would have gone to civil unrest or a civil war.

I am hoping that this buying spree is short and limited to AR-15's. I'm also hoping it doesn't affect ammo like Newtown did in 2012. The fact that they they can't get anything through Congress should help ease the fears. Unfortunately, many also believe Obama is capable of creating a crisis, declaring martial law and suspending rights. I would be one of those people.

Paw paw, A lot of people are expecting the worst. So there is always that.

But the "panickers" never come out of the woodwork unless they think they won't be able to have something later on.

Many of the "panickers" are simply looking at the guns to flip later for big profit, and not because they would know what to do with them. Tits on a boar hog my friend.

. . . the record number of Americans seeking to buy guns in recent weeks is “a tragedy” that the White House is at a loss to explain. . . .

Well that's because they don't want to know the truth. They can't handle the truth, that WE THE PEOPLE aren't who they thought we were when they decided to rule us.

I told my 6 year old granddaughter that several people were killed at work by criminals last week, and this week people are buying lots of new guns. "Why do you think that happened?" I asked.

She instantly replied, "Because they're scared and they want to shoot the criminals."

It's that simple, and I'm resorting to 6-year old tactics like NEENER-NEENER because the POTUS KNOWS the truth and yet because he thinks we're still fools, he publically displays an understanding below a kindergarten student, and expects people won't question this?

Well NEENER, NEENER, NEENER, Mr POTUS. We're not at all on your team, and never will be because your ideas all suck.

:p:p:p:p

Grab A Gun has usually had one of the cheapest prices on the M&P15 Sport. It's now risen about $100 on their site. I can only imagine what it is at other places, and also what other AR's are going for. I really like my Sport, but if I came across some schmuck that was willing to give me three or four times what I paid for it, I'd be hard pressed not to sell. :D I don't see that happening, though, as I don't run into too many schmucks looking for AR-15's. :(

According to TTAG it has begun...

Also, TTAG reports that Americans no longer favor an AWB according to a CBS poll of all things.

" . . . tens of millions of Americans are buying “assault rifles” because they don’t trust the police or the government to keep them safe. They’re buying MSR’s as a hedge against government incompetence."

The government has lost all credibility with many of us, and is well on the way with many more. This business should surprise nobody.
Perhaps all the liberals thought we'd all just turn in our guns, hold hands, and sing Kumbyeya as we wait to be invaded or rounded up by Homeland Security? This is how out-of-touch they really are.

Reality check:

We don't trust the government at all, ever since it decided it could raise taxes over and over and over until it created a nation of wage-slaves. The actions of O'Bomba have made it even worse. He wants to tell us "who we are" but can't tell us who Americans are, because he doesn't actually know. This is very clear by the nation's reaction to his self-satisfied pontification.

We The People don't trust our black-muslim-fake-christian POTUS not to use the military against our own people. In fact, we expect it.

We don't trust Congress to prevent that either. They're scared chitless of O'Bomba's power to stir up the "black community". They're scared of his love for the moslems. He basically has them treed and wetting themselves up to this point.

Also, lots of ordinary US citizens figure that Obama is either purposely stirring up racial tensions and fomenting race riots, or he's such an idiot he doesn't realize that the consequences of his actions can bring them on.

I see dead people. Beheaded people. Burned people. Shot people. Every day we see this on the news, and somehow our First Idiot doesn't think this will create fear and the desire for personal defense?

Well the military protects him 24-7. He doesn't know the need & he doesn't care about the needs of Middle America. Not at all.

We The People have been left with little choice but to arm ourselves for our own protection.

A 6 year old can understand this. Anybody who thinks DC is truly mystified by the rash of gun sales is an iron-plated moron.

I order red a few stripped lowers. I've been putting together uppers and need to balance it out. LOL

Well I paid for the Henry .22 LR gun today & looked at some 9mm pistols. I'm going to pick up a springfield 9mm compact.

Not my dream carry gun, but it'll work for now as I decide on something more exotic.

While I was there my bud showed me some AR's he can't sell here, so they--or at least the lowers--must sell out of Calif. The distributor screwed up, but the guns have doubled in value sitting here so he won't send them back.

They need the bullet button to be legal in Calif, but it's not legal to just install it here. It must be factory installed to be legal, so those guns have to go away.

Just checked riflegear and gallaryofguns, both have a slim stock of everything.

Gun Genie has been so busy the site is slow as molasses. Their business is rocking right now.

The Springfield xd 9mm with 3" is a nice gun, I prefer the glock26, but the Springfield would be my second choice.

I tried a Glock, a Kahr, a Springfield, a Beretta, a Shield, and a High Point.
All compacts, though I think Beretta stretches the concept.
Being the biggest compact? I don't know if that makes sense.

I preferred the 3" Springfield over all.

The High Point was heavy and clunky and slow. Cheap gun.
Beretta felt great & cycles fast but was too big to carry.
Kahr felt OK but not the best.
The Shield was a bit better than the Kahr.
The Glock probably shot the best but doesn't fit my hand.

Have you seen a Beretta centurion?

It's kinda like the colt commander. It has the full size grip, and 4 inch slide/barrel.

Still an inch longer than a 3 inch xd, but still manageable.

Yeah that's the one. Nice gun but just too big to hide on a guy my size.

I've got a bunch of rolls I can hide them in.

The glock is a bit smaller them the xd, but I will agree the glock takes a bit of getting adjusted to. It took me a while to like my first Glock, now, a polymer striker fired pistol is all I care to use.
Ni liked the sheild, for its size, but hated the trigger. I swap between the glock 26 and glock 30 now days. Road trips it's the G19.
Cheers
