First attempt at Building a (hicap) Handgun

Not related to my build but more on the Plastixrevolution vice block

Barreled a 300BLK pistol for a battle buddy.

Put the milspec barrel nut on to 35 ftlbs and the gas tube key way looked to be a few thousands away from perfect but it binded the gas tube enough to not allow the tube to fit the gas key right so the nut had to be indexed around one more tooth.

Anyone who has had to do that knows what kind of torque and muscle it takes to do it.
The Plastixrevolution no-mar block was up to it.

It got a little chewed up from sliding around in the vice jaws a little because the force and working of the nut is epic but the upper never came loose and the block never flew out of the vice.

I was worried about running into this as it is a worst case scenario for a vice block






On another note this was another Anderson upper…….the detail was better than mine but the rail profile is about the same but cleaner and doesn’t match he Sampson rail installed on the 300.
Coming to the conclusion that the Anderson cutter is not quite the same as MI, SLR and now Sampson. I will live with what I get from them but won’t be back…..ever

Nice looking pistol.

I can see a little difference in the top rail on the upper and handguard, but it doesn't really look too bad to me. At least from what I can tell on my screen.

I think you did good.

is a baby pig, same folks who make my barrel.....same folks who turn all of Spikes custom builds and when the owner needs a barrel he turns to Ballistic Advantage so I feel they are both quality pieces .....apparently from internet lore he turns a lot o high end companies barrels .....all dated mine was born on 11/14

Still small enough I think it gets a good attention to detail still like a kid in a small school.

When I got my barrel the return label was hand written "Adam Wainio"[/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL][/URL]
 
well got the new stripped upper.....it is much much much better than my first, much much better than the 300BLK I just did.

Feed ramps are more prominent and line up great with the extension and the inside is flawless....and I can find a flaw like a mofo....comes from my barrel making days

However the rail, while way cleaner of a cut with actual square edges, is still different than everything else I have the ability to compare it to.
The sight seats slightly better than the first one but still a gap
It is going to work like a charm though and I am happy with the outcome.

Damn, that's a whole lotta mag. How long it lake to load that sucker?
 
Thanks, I think I'll like it....takes about 35 seconds to load from a pile of reloads.

I'm more interested in how fast I can unload it though :cool:

Pistol is shaping up awesome. That BCG looks great. I may have missed it, but what CH are you going with? I am a huge fan of the Rainier Raptor and have the on all four of my AR's.

I like nitrided barrels, and just from that, I would be interested in a bcg with that process as well, but am interested in your personal opinion of it.

And for about the cost of a regular bcg to boot.

Will do, I have been running a Seekins melonited bcg for a few hundred rounds now in my 18" and I love it.
The treatment hasen't even scuffed yet anywhere not even the bolt lugs. It is slicker than park but nothing to write home about, it's about like a nicely blued barrel in feel....not as slippy feeling as nib

Was on the fence about a different style bcg since the regular works great but I really like what they did and I really like their company so i'going to roll the dice on the reduced friction

yeah it is, curiously it didn't blind me at all......it was obviously dark while shooting in that pic. I could easily see what I was shooting at after the flashes, I could fight with it at night no problem, however between the flash and the sound, there would be no question where to return fire. But even a tiny flash will earn you target status and most things let out a little flash at night every 5th round or so....and noise is noise so
 
It's the same with mine and the pig.

Buddy, if the threat persists after 40 rounds you've got bigger problems than a muzzle signature...
