The Rant

That was my first guess but it's perfect on the dipstick.

Ok, let's get it fixed. You didn't say what the smoke color was...very blue? Or very black?

First, did you clean/change the air filter? If not, do so. A clogged filter will effectively "flood" the engine...too much fuel, not enough air.

Second, pull the plugs and look at them. Dark and sooty? Too much fuel and plugs are fouled. Black and shiny... It's burning oil. Maybe too much in the engine. Change the plugs if at all concerned about how they look. You said you changed the oil. How much came out when you drained it? How much did you add? Lawnmower engines are much more sensitive to excess oil since the cylinder(s) are essentially lying down.

Third, how long has the gas been sitting in the tank? Today's gas is shit...too much ethanol will absorb water and make an engine run crappy and can smoke as well. Add Gumout, Sea Foam or other type of fuel treatment that addresses ethanol.

I'm assuming to will still turn over so the engine isn't seized. You can do a compression check if you have a gauge. That will tell you if there is any engine damage...either rings or valves. Hopefully, not.

Keep us updated.

The smoke is white. The gas is new, I use the mower weekly.

After it, and I, cooled down I pulled the plug and air filter. The plug was black and completely clogged (explains the lack of spark). The air filter was ok but looking deeper there was about 1/8 inch of oil pooled under the filter in the air intake. I also checked the oil level and it was spot on.

I replaced the plug, sopped up the oil in the air intake and put a new air filter on it for good measure.

It started so I let it just run for 15 minutes of so to burn off any oil. It blew a little smoke when I took off around the yard but it seems to be OK now.

I guess I jumped the gun but I've had a few other motors burn down on me and this acted the exact same way. I've tipped this guy many many times in the past to pull the deck out and have never had this happen before. Lesson learned, never tip a 4 stroke.

LOL. (Yes I know, had I asked I would have been informed prior)

Some lessons are best learned buy falling on your face. One of those things that seems insanely obvious in retrospect. In this case no harm, no foul and I have a mover that actually runs better than it did a week ago. And I don't have to jump start it every time I mow. Wooo Hoooo!!!

I have added that info to the mental manual.

Nice!

I love yelling that at people when applicable. Goes over a LOT better with folks that've actually seen the movie...

Can I take a moment to start a new rant?

My family and I have over the course of this day had a VERY lenghty and VERY personal encounter with what I am now certain is an acurate depiction of the coming police state. At this point, the "authorities" that be have won the day, but they have started a war for themselves that I can assure you will not end until Right prevails and the heads of the transgressors have "rolled" to a full and complete stop.

I don't feel that Im at liberty to say very much that is specific, but sufice it to say: if "they" can do this to us for the reasons that were stated, then "they" can do this to anyone at any time. what was that old poem? "

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."

today they came after my family.
at this moment, they have most of my family.
we did nothing wrong.

,,,,,you sound very upset,,,,,

Ttutt, what Ripjack said.

Obviously it's hard to comment without some amount of detail but keep your head and if it's like you said, get a lawyer. If it's bad enough they may beat a path to you to make a name for themselves. Keep us posted if you need anything or just a place to rant.

HA! needed that pic.

I'd definitely like to make the news on this. I just want to do it the right way.

I didn't post the pic to make fun of your situation. But you need to explain a bit better if you need any help or advice.

Like the guys said,,,,be cool, think things out.

really just wanted to vent.

CPS took my 7 kids on bogus grounds.
words they spoke to us in private later indicates its basically a vendetta because we don't let them bully us like they do everyone else. we know their rules better than they do. we help kids and families before CPS gets involved. CPS has worked with us, placed kids with us when we were a licenced foster home. requested our help to take kids at times.

they won't let us see them or speak to them for 2 weeks when we have a hearing. legal opinions we have say they have no case and no grounds for removal, but they still get to traumatize.my kids for two weeks. all of them are adopted or in the process except.for one. they all have issues with separation and histories of being passed around. one is so tender hearted she may well need therapy after this. no exaggeration.

what caused it all? they expected us to honor an arrangement that was several weeks past the expiry date they had set and we said no.

they said "...you're gonna learn not to tell CPS no..."

this is all about punishment and the infliction of pain.

Oh damn.

Sorry to see you're having to go through this. I'm sure you're documenting everything for the hearing already as every little piece of information can help your case. Good luck with it and keep us posted...

That sucks Ttutt. I don't like a lot of what the government does but I can't imagine dealing with them taking kids. Do what you need to do and play the game as needed. It sounds like you need to document things as LES noted and get a pit bull of a lawyer. Keep us posted and rant as needed.

I think you could find a young attorney just getting their feet wet to go after CPS pro bono for let's say 5 million just to stay in round numbers!! Or, at least the Pit Bull for 25% of the settlement!!! :)

we've got the name of two good choices, its just a matter of money now.

sucks that I have to effectively buy my kids back. and to top it all off we'll have CPS in our business for a long time after this. they're all home schooled and they will definitely be forced into public school as a condition. nevermind that my homeschioled son entered Texas A&M in the top 10% and has held a 3. GPA up to his junior year. all while in the corps of cadets. but, homeschooling is just not acceptable to them

well we just spent all day in court. the proceedings were about everything BUT what we were accused of, centering on our decision to homescool.

the associate judge knows that if we don't get what we want it will be an automatic appeal. however that means it goes to her "boss'" court. that judge (elected) happens to have agreed that our two most recent adoptees were indeed better off in our home since he put them there.
all in all, not a good way to score points with the boss in an election year.

Did it go well? Does it look like it's in your favor? When's the next court date? It's been a few weeks, did you get to see the kiddos? Are they still out of your custody?
